I think that I'm also going to fall into the camp of "I'll believe it when I see it." I know that we see all of these patent filings that suggest the widescreen iPod, but I think that the iPhone and iTV are Apple's 2 biggest projects right now (new markets, more possibilities). Maybe the reason we're seeing such a long time between updates is not so much engineering trouble, but Apple designers not being sure of how to best improve the iPod experience/design.
The thing I worry about now is that the iPod may be losing some of its glamour; when it first came out, it replaced the bulky CD players, and was the coolest toy on the block. It's still pretty cool now (I want to buy my 1st nano soon), but people looking for features may jump onto other mp3 player bandwagons. The Zune reminds me of an elongated Game Boy (the classic), but the sansa player is pretty darn nice for the price. I think that unless Apple can re-redesign the music experience, or else completely solidify its hold on the entire digital entertainment market, we're going to see lots more switchers (to PC models) in the next generation to cheaper, everyday mp3 players.

So everyone is clear now that Apple did not kick down anyone's door and that Jon Stewart was pretty far off the mark, right? If you want to argue that Apple should not report felonies to the police, be my guest, but that was the extent of Apple's involvement.

Then let me revise my statement and say this is why other media should attempt to independently verify their sources and then add a dash of common sense.

Not a good sign, not a good sign... Last time he talked about his personal life was ...in after he was diagnosed to have a rare form of pancreatic cancer? And now he is telling us everything about himself...
I really hope that he will be healthy and lead Apple to another decade of success.
My thoughts and hopes as well.

RadarWeb is the bug reporting portal for Developers.
RadarWeb is. I'm talking about RADAR - what Apple engineers themselves use. I used to have access to it when I worked there MANY years ago, but I still keep friends who work there. They don't tell me anything since its NDA and they like their jobs, but they did tell me what I wrote.

Amazing price for the Shuffle, especially in comparison to the older models. Just like the new Nanos, hopefully we've got some more news on updated MacBooks and whatnot!

Bleh, so much plagiarism. I don't think the name is too bad but when I read about the Wii Sports and Eyepet ripoffs... yea. No thanks! I, and millions others, already have them ta.

PARAGRAPHS!
Exactly what I thought - good guy, like the ads, but hope he doesn't take up writing as a hobby.

It's a model?

On an object handled this much, carbon fiber will start to fray. Plus they'd have to paint it because it's not very stylish.
I'd be on board with a black metal MBP. The old 'black books' were a huge hit, weren't they?

It could have a secular constitution at the beginning, but constitutions can be changed and thrown out if the wrong people gain too much power. Islam is a threat to secularism when they gain large numbers and political power. So is Orthodox Judaism, but guarantees can be written into the constitution.

There is a new method of producing carbon fiber called "chopped carbon fiber." It might make sense for Apple to use something like this as opposed to woven carbon fiber, which is very expensive to manufacture.

Is there any benefit of HDMI if you won't be using the HD-DVD's, and you only have a 720P TV?
It's relative and depends on the device. Generally, HDMI is clearer and provides a sharper picture.
When using component on my Oppo DVD player and PS3, I have "jaggies" on both menus and content. When using HDMI on both, the "jaggies" virtually disapppear and there is less ghosting during fast action.
Are you going to be able to tell the difference several feet away from TV? Depends on your eyesight.
It also depends on how your television handles (internal processing) HDMI and component. On my 32" Samsung, there is noticeable difference between the processing of HDMI sources and component sources. HDMI wins hands down.
You know there's a difference when non-techy members of your family ask "Why does the [movie, game, menu] look different?"

From engadget: "It still doesn't have integrated WiFi (Xbox said it's because a study showed the majority of their customers use Ethernet to connect -- huh?), and it won't have an integrated HD DVD drive (not that we expected otherwise)"
LOL, no wireless because microsofts market research is flawed:D

Maybe, when you rank the individual product models. But when you rank the underlying platforms, iOS is no longer leading the pack. Android has taken over the lead and that was to be expected, because Google did the smart thing: Divide and rule. Everybody can build Android gadgets, but only Apple builds iOS devices. And the systems that everybody can use have ALWAYS dominated the market. Just remember Windows vs Mac OS or VHS vs Betamax and Video 2000.
Winni... you're right, it is a totally different business model between Apple and Google when it comes to cell phones. And given that LG, HTC, Moto and others were failing miserably at doing their own OS it made sense for them to migrate to Android. Just the pure numbers say that Android is going to be a major player in the smart phone market.
However, that does not mean that iOS will not continue to thrive and grow either. As you can see by the numbers... it's a HUGE and growing market. Given that Apple's model makes them very profitable, I'm sure they are very happy with where they are at and the growth they are seeing.
I really hate this stupid iOS vs Android comparison. Android or iOS will never own the total market and one will not destroy the other. I just don't see that happening unless one of them takes their eye off the ball. Right now, that does not appear to be Apple. They seem to know what they're doing based on the numbers.

You know...i have been a silent observer on this site for years. I never have ever signed up for a user name because i enjoyed reading different people's perspective, and felt it was best for me to just not get involved...but this has changed recently.
The apple community has changed with the increased popularity. Where as it was once a small group of evangelists fighting for apple to succeed, it is now half of the old order, and half of some sort of new "apple better not have any flaws in anything they produce, and everything they make had better use the best hardware on the planet, or else they suck and i am ditching them for microsoft/google." The fun seems to be leaving the building. I remember a lot of quirky apple products from the early days, including the macintosh. Can you imagine that apple had a computer that you couldn't expand the memory on?? can you imagine?? what would happen if they released that today...i swear people would threaten to sue apple for false advertizing because apple told them it was a good product, but it didn't meet exactly everything they want.
The antenna issue on the iphone 4 is a perfect example. I hear everything from apple should give away free bumpers to "steve jobs is a horrible ******* who stole my money, and handed me a tin can with a string on it in exchange"....come on now, people. Please.
Due to my line of work, i have encountered several iphone 4's in several midwestern states, and in several apple stores. Can you, if so inclined, reduce the signal to the phone by bridging the gap between the two antennas? Yes. Does it result in a horrible catastrophic failure of every feature of the device every time you pick it up? No.
The responses of "i'm just going to complain about dropped calls until i'm blue in the face, or apple resolves the issue, and i'm going to continue holding the phone in my left hand, without a case because that's how i've always used a phone" is akin to saying "i'm going to continue to fall on my face every time I take a step in my new air jordans because i've always worn sandals, and never had to tie my own shoes before, so i will continue this behavior until nike issues a fix so i don't keep falling on my face."
